Michael Girrard Tipton

Michael “Mike” Girrard Tipton, 63, of Edna, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014. He was born March 17, 1951 in Arenosa to Mildred Tipton and the late Artie Tipton. Mike worked at the West Ranch in Vanderbilt for 38 years.
Mike was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids and grandchildren. He was admired for being a kind, caring and giving person, always putting others’ needs before his own. Mike enjoyed taking his nephews, Lane Tipton, Jake Tipton, Lance Tipton and Matthew Volkmer to work with him, building fence, working cattle and doing other handyman work, teaching them “his way” of doing things. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. He is gone but our memories of him will live on in remembering his sense of humor, his quotes about life, and his ability to make the best of what life handed him.
Mike is survived by his wife, Donna Tipton of Edna, mother Mildred Tipton; son Jeffrey Tipton and wife Courtney of Edna; daughters Amy Crutchfield and husband Brian of Bellville, and Jill Crenshaw and husband Kris of Edna; brothers Charles Tipton and friend Nancy Harris, Bill Tipton and wife Charlotte, and Terry Tipton and wife Lesli, all of Edna; sister, Rose Volkmer and husband Robert of Edna; grandchildren, Cameron Tipton, Kimberly Tipton, Caleb Estep, Ally Estep, Makenna Crutchfield, Cutter Crenshaw, Henry Crenshaw, and Katherine Crenshaw; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father John Girrart “Artie” Tipton, father-in-law D.R. Fiew, and mother-in-law Margaret Fiew.
A celebration of Mike’s life was held on June 21 at the Baptist Temple in Edna.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to donate to their charity of choice.
