Ganado Independent School District Superintendent Jeff Black was recently placed on administrative leave, according to GISD School Attorney Roger D. Hepworth. Ganado Police Chief Rodney Roberson said Black is accused of child abuse.
He allegedly abused a female teenager. Roberson said if the incident occurred it wasn’t recent and didn’t occur during school or at school property. Child Protective Services is currently investigating the situation.
Hepworth said the school board is being cautious.
“We don’t know if the allegations are true,” he said.
Black could not be reached for comment.
Ganado Independent School District Board of Trustees will be discussing the appointment of an interim superintendent on Wednesday, May 21 at 6 p.m. at the Ganado ISD Board Room, 210 South 6th Street in Ganado. The discussion will take place during executive session. An interim superintendent may be appointed and/or hiring of other personnel at the meeting.
Roberson said the allegation is being investigated.
More information will be posted as available.
