Lady Cobras are Area Champs
The Industrial Lady Cobras played Natalia in Shiner in the Regional Quarterfinal round over the weekend and suffered an unfortunate loss, 7-0. What was to be a series game on Friday night was rained out and turned into one game, postponed to Saturday.
“The game against Natalia was definitely not indicative of what our team was known for throughout the season. My girls were a hard-hitting team all season long, and for the most part we played flawless defense,” said Coach Jesse Casarez. “Saturday we just made too many mental mistakes on defense and pressed at the plate. That was my fault, I should’ve prepared them better, but take nothing away from Natalia, they are a very tough team with good skills defensively and offensively,” he said. “I was proud of my girls, they never got down and kept plugging away. The four seniors I will lose (Brittany Berger, Madison Garza, Jordin Jones and Darcie Moreno) will be hard to replace but I am so thankful that I was here for their senior year, they are a class act and will be missed dearly.”
The team ended up with a 28-3 overall record, with 14-0 in district. They came away with District Champs, Bi-District Champs and Area Champs.
