Carlos Luis Lopez

     Carlos Luis Lopez, age 43 of Austin, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014. He was born in Ganado, Texas on January 16, 1971, to Freddie O. Lopez and Jane Cruz Lopez.

     Carlos was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a degree in mathematics. He was employed as a Quality Control Representative for Data Quick. Carlos was also a musician, he played the drums and performed with numerous bands around the Austin area, bands titled Grass, Milhouse and Squint, just to name a few.

He was a friend to everyone who knew him and was an inspiration to many, he will be missed dearly.

     He is survived by his parents, sisters Nancy Schaffer (Paul) of Edna, Carol Love (Keith) of Houston, and brother Fred Lopez of Austin. Carlos was also survived by nieces and nephews, Jon Ryon Lopez, Brook Martin, Brandon Lopez, Alecia Sparkman, Rockne Schaffer, and great nieces and nephews, Griffin Lopez, Hollyn Lopez, Paisley Martin and Brantley Martin.

     Visitation will be Friday, March 28, from 5-7 pm., at the Oaklawn Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 10:30am in the St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Petering officiating. Burial will follow in the Latin American Cemetery.

     Pallbearers will be Keith Love, Alex C. Rocha, Benjamin Cruz, Alonzo Cruz, Abel Cruz and James Cruz. Honorary pallbearers will be Carlos' musician friends and co-workers of Data Quick in Austin.

Memorials may be made to the Edna High School Music and Theatre Arts Departments, 1303 West Gayle, Edna, Texas 77957.

     Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna, 361-782-2221.
