Industrial Independent School District Superintendent Tony Williams accepted the resignation of Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Shane Lothman on March 26 after 3 seasons as AD and 6 years overall.
The news was no surprise to him because he and Lothman had been discussing his resignation. Williams said the district has been wanting a change of direction in the athletic department.
"We appreciate the contributions he has made to our school," Williams said. "Coach Lothman felt like it was time for a change.
In the meantime, he will continue to care for the AD duties, he said. Williams said his last day is undetermined and will be no longer than August.
The last time the position was open, the district received 139 applicants, he said.
"We will post the position this afternoon to start the search for our new athletic director/head football coach," Williams said. "Interviews should take place sometime in April."
