County powerlifting boys represent at regionals

    The 2014 Region 4 Division 3 boys powerlifting regional meet was held at Cleveland High School in Cleveland on Saturday, March 1. The Industrial boys team placed fourth with 17 total team points, and Edna placed eighth with ten points. The Ganado boys team placed 18th with a total of three points. Individual scores are as follows:
    123lb. weight class- 3rd place, Edna, Lamar Turner, squat 315, bench press 165, dead lift 365, total 845.
    132lb. weight class- 2nd place, Industrial, Trenton Thedford, squat 360, bench press 220, dead lift 355, total 935; 3rd place, Edna, David Nunez, squat 255, bench press 190, dead lift 360, total 905; 6th place, Industrial, Kayden Kurtz, squat 315, bench press 165, dead lift 355, total 835.
    148lb. weight class- 3rd place, Ganado, Chris Garza, squat 375, bench press 260, dead lift 365, total 1000; 4th place, Industrial, Daniel Santillan, squat 360, bench press 205, dead lift 395, total 960.
    165lb. weight class- 5th place, Edna, Ta’von Cantu, squat 425, bench press 245, dead lift 465, total 1135; 8th place, Industrial, Ethan Brown, squat 385, bench press 235, dead lift 395, total 1015.
    181lb. weight class- 3rd place, Industrial, Eli Milner, squat 475, bench press 285, dead lift 475, total 1235.
    198lb. weight class- 6th place, Industrial, Devon DelosSantos, squat 400, bench press 200, dead lift 335, total 935.
    275lb. weight class- 2nd place, Industrial, Mason Davis, squat 530, bench press 330, dead lift 510, total 1370; 3rd place, Edna, Dylan Kallus, squat 550, bench press 250, dead lift 475, total 1275.
    Super heavy weight class- 4th place, Industrial, Levi Perry, squat 515, bench press 325, dead lift 410, total 1250.
    Industrial seniors Trenton Thedford and Mason Davis, Edna boys Lamar Turner, David Nunez and Dylan Kallus, and Ganado’s Chris Garza will be representing their school at the State meet this year in Abilene on March 21-22.
    Two names were accidentally missed from last week’s article pertaining to the Edna girls powerlifting team going to the State meet on March 14. Desiree Hart and Shermeka Thompson will be joining their teammates.
