Guidry - Cowan exchange double ring nuptial vows

Rachel Nicole Guidry of Edna and Kirkland Joshua Cowan exchanged nuptial vows on Feb. 1, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church in Edna. The Rev. Storey officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Leroy and Evelyn Guidry of Edna and the granddaughter of Marguerite Greig of Rayou, La. and the late Leroy Guidry Sr., and Lanelle Chapman, and Elija Sliva Sr.
The groom is the son of Jimmy Cowan of Pottsville, Ark., and Sarah Walker of San Jose, Calif. and the grandson of Phil and Janet Sanders of Springfield, Mo.
The altar held a tulle-wrapped arch decorated with doves and cream roses, and a unity candle. White pew bows marked the seats for special guest and family.
Wedding music was provided by Chris Zuber and Steven Hermes. Selections included Cowboys and Angels, Making Memories of Us, Stealing Cinderella, and I Feel Good.
Maid of honor was Malinda Rowlette. Matron of honor was Kaci Kubenka. Bridesmaid was Daphne Hudson and junior bridesmaid was Madison Hudson.
Kendall Cunningham was the flower girl.
Best men were Blayke Kubenka and Tyler Guidry. Groomsman was Tyler Hudson and Blake Hudson was the junior groomsman.
Kameron Cunningham was the ring bearer.
Brandon Lister, Jake Harvey and Jonathan Hudson performed the ushering duties.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was lovely in a radiant cream satin princess-style gown with a lace insert, sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves.
On her hair she wore a rhinestone tiara with a shoulder-length veil of silk illusion.
She carried a hand-tied bouquet of red roses intertwined with rhinestones and white ribbon.
The bridesmaids wore red dresses with cream-colored shawls and ankle-length pewter-colored cowboy boots. Each attendant carried a single cream rose. The flower girl wore a cream-colored dress featuring a basket weave ribbon bodice. She carried a matching cream basket with red rose petals.
The mother of the bride wore a royal blue silk formal dress with a tiered skirt and bolero jacket.
The mother of the groom wore a light blue slimline two piece sleeveless formal dress with ruffles on the shoulder.
The groom wore a western-style black tuxedo with a red vest and bolo tie.
The mother of the bride and groom lit the Unity candles and were each presented a red rose from the bride.
A reception was held at the Hafernick Center in Brackenridge Park.
The bride’s cake was a six-tiered cascade confection of assorted flavors layered with pineapple filling and decorated with red roses and a bride and groom topper.
The groom’s red velvet cake was decorated in the rodeo theme.
The rehearsal dinner was held at the Edna Presbyterian Church fellowship hall and hosted by the bride’s parents.
Following wedding travel the couple will make their home in Edna.
The bride-elect is a 2009 graduate of Edna High School and attended Wharton Co. Junior College. She is employed by El Campo Valve. The prospective groom is a 2011 graduate of McDonald High School in Anderson, Mo. He is employed by Double R Fencing Company in Edna.
