Brownings celebrate 50 years

Donald and Nan Browning of Lolita celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 7 with a reception hosted by their children Clint and Susan Browning of Lockhart and Tammy and Kevin Deyton of Sour Lake. They were married on Sept. 6,1963 in Wharton at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Home Starnes  officiating. They were joined by friends and family at the First Baptist Church of Lolita. The couple are both retired and enjoy involvement in church activities, traveling, and their granddaughters.

Larry and Janet White of Edna announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Stephanie White to Jason Sulak, son of Bill and Frances Sulak of El Campo. The bride elect is a graduate of Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi with a Bachelor of Administration degree in finance. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She is employed as a financial analyst at Geokinetics in Houston. The prospective groom is a graduate of the University of Houston in Victoria with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting. He served as the Student Senate’s School of Business Undergraduate Representative. He is currently employed at a CPA firm in Houston’s River Oaks area. The couple will exchange vows on Sept. 14, 2013 at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land.

Mark And Renee Lopez of Ganado and Sharon and Ty Coburn of Richmond announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Stacy Lea Lopez of Ganado to Brandon Lee Tomas, son of Larry and Annette Tomas of El Toro. The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Ganado High School and a 2009 graduate of Texas State University with a major in fashion merchandising and a minor in business. She is employed by Cinch Energy Services. The prospective groom is a 1998 graduate of Industrial High School and a 2003 graduate of Texas A&M University with a major in agronomy. He is employed by Cinch Energy Services as a project manager/estimator. The couple will exchange vows on Sept. 21, 2013 at St. Philips Catholic Church in El Campo.

Curt and Marnie Gabrysch and Paula Gabrysch of Edna announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Kristen Gabrysch of Ganado to B.J. Hicks, son of Brian and Sharon Hicks of Ganado. The bride elect is a 2002 graduate of Edna High School and graduated from Victoria College. She is employed as a licensed vocational nurse at the Jackson County Medical Clinic. The prospective groom is a 1999 graduate of Ganado High School. He graduated from Texas State Technical College in Waco with a degree in instrumentation and electrical. He is employed by Energy Transfer in Ganado. The couple will exchange vows at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna at 2 p.m. on August 31, 2013.

Ellis, Marek crowned at livestock show

 

 
Kalli Ellis and Emily Marek were named Queen and Sweetheart of the Texas Junior Livestock Association, July 4 during their annual Belt Buckle Bonanza Livestock Show held in Waco. Kalli and Emily competed with girls from across the state to earn this title.  Kalli is a sophomore at Industrial High School and is the daughter of Larry and Sherri Ellis. Emily is a third grader at Industrial Elementary West and is the daughter of Hondo and Shelley Marek. Kalli also competed in the Heifer show and was named Beefmaster Grand Champion and was the American Champion in Ring B and the American Reserve Champion in Ring A.  Emily also participated in the livestock show by exhibiting her goats.

Quinceanara held

Maria Del Carmen Verduzco of Edna was honored with a quinceanara on June 29 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Edna with the Rev. Andrew Schroer officiating. She is the daughter of Ruben and Lucia Verduzco of Edna. Attending Maria, from left, were Carlos Romero, Daniel Silva, Mauro Segundo, and Edwardo Silva. A reception was held at the Jackson County Services Building auditiorium.

Katy Cheyenne Diaz and Chance Poulton of Ganado exchanged nuptial vows on May 17, 2013 at the American Legion Hall in Ganado. The bride is the daughter of Albert and Belinda Diaz of Ganado. She is a 2012 graduate of Ganado High School. The groom is the son of Brent and Molly Poulton of Ganado and is a 2013 graduate of Ganado High School. He is an airman in the United States Air Force. The couple will reside at Minot Air Force Base in Minot, North Dakota.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston University in Huntsville and is a supervisor at Brinkman Group, Ldt. in Houston. The couple will exchange vows on July 20, 2013 at Immanuel Church of Christ in Needville.
