Charles "Chuck" Slavik Jr.

Charles "Chuck" M. Slavik, Jr. 73 of Edna was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, June 18, 2017. Chuck was born in Columbus, Texas to Charles, Sr. and Emma Lichnovsky Slavik.
Chuck graduated from Edna High School. In school he was a wonderful athlete in track and was also captain of the football team. He was also class president and student council president along with being Mr. Cowboy. He received his BA in accounting from The University of Texas at Austin and his Doctoral of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas at Austin Law School.
Chuck is blessed to be survived by two loving families, his siblings Thomas "Tom" G. Slavik of Edna, John R. Slavik of Nashville, Tenn., and Marie Slavik Gallman and her husband James R. Gallman, III of Fort Worth; his two nieces Antonia E. Gallman of San Francisco, Calif., and Theresa M. Gallman of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Chuck lived with his second family for many years. He was loved dearly by all of them! He is survived by his "daughter" Polly R. Grudzieski and husband Wayne of Edna; their children Pauline A. Alderete and "great grandbaby" Emma Angeline of Houston and Paul A. Alderete II and "great-grandbaby" Alexander of Sealy, Kaylynn N. Grudzieski of San Antonio, and Gavin W. Grudzieski of Edna.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; his aunts Gladys Collins and Isabel Martin; and his Uncle William "Bill" Lichnovsky.
A memorial for Chuck will be held on Saturday, June 24 from noon until 6 p.m. at 41 Private Road 1231 Edna.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of South Texas 605 E. Locust Avenue, Victoria, TX 77901 or Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Edna.
Polly and her family would like to thank the following staff at South Texas Hospice: Lynn Brittany, and Kesha for their tender care during this time. It was greatly appreciated and also like to thank the meticulous handpicked caregivers she chose to help her with her "Chucky." Those are: Sonia Saldierna, Deandra Delgado, Christie Dodds, Kristi Sertuche and Lovena Jones. Polly and her family could not have done it without your care and guidance. Thank you for caring as much as she did, that's why she chose you!
