Bobbie Jean Young

Bobbie Jean Young of Black Jack, passed away at home with her family on Sunday evening, April 9, 2017.
She was born in the family home in La Salle, on September 16, 1940 to Robert Lee and Willie Mae (Kulak) Ledkins. Bobbie attended Industrial High School, graduating in 1959 as class valedictorian. She married John M. Young of Lolita, on July 26,1958 at Lolita Baptist Church.
Bobbie was an avid reader and she loved decorating for all the holidays – to the extreme! She made the best mayonnaise cake and banana pudding in the world. And mostly, she loved to make people smile. She had the most beautiful smile.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her mother and father, and nephew Douglas Ledkins, Jr
Bobbie is survived by her loving husband of nearly 59 years, John M. Young, Sr. of Blackjack; two son’s, John M. Young, Jr., of Austin and William Shane Hicks and fiancé Stephanie of Black Jack; daughter Candy Spears and husband Rusty of Black Jack; granddaughter Samantha Pullin and husband David of Wellborn, and four great grandchildren, Tucker Blaylock of Black Jack, and Tristan, Rusty and Elaina, all of Wellborn. She is also survived by brother Douglas Ledkins of Richmond and sister Debbie King of Meadows Place, Texas.
A visitation and celebration of her life was held April 12 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.
