Benito DeLeon
Benito P. DeLeon, of Tahoka, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at the age of 82. He was born April 3, 1934, in Jackson County, to the late Ysabel and Maria Partida DeLeon.
Benito worked as a farmer for most of his life and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening his flowers. He also loved watching wrestling, telling stories, and spending time with his family and friends. Benito was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle and friend who will be missed dearly.
Benito is survived by his loving wife, Angelita DeLeon of Tahoka; three sons, Benito DeLeon of Edna, Jose DeLeon of W.A., Manuel and Jennifer DeLeon of Tahoka, and Fabian DeLeon of Monahan; three daughters, Maria DeLeon of Petty, Teresa and Salomon Ochoa of Lubbock, Yolanda DeLoen of Tahoka; two brothers, Marcelino (Bay) DeLeon of Edna, Ysabel Jr. DeLeon of Grand Prairie; three sisters, San Juana Ta Soria of Burlington W.A., Ramona Herrera of Lubbuck, Grgoria Sanchez of Victoria; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many loving family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Benito is preceded in death by his brother, Jacinto “Chico” DeLeon; sister, Fabina DeLeon.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was Tuesday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna with the Rev. Michael Petering officiating. Burial followed in the Latin American Cemetery in Edna.
