Two arrested in area thefts

A string of burglaries that swept Jackson and other counties last month has been discovered to be connected to a burglary ring out of Rosenberg, said Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Jason McCarrell.
The crimes, which always happened in the daytime while people were at work, have occurred in a seven-county area, including Jackson, Waller, Wharton, and Victoria Counties as well as three other unnamed counties, according to McCarrell. Primarily guns and electronics were taken, but jewelry and other valuables were also reported stolen.
So far, two arrests have been made in connection with the case, and more are expected soon. Nelsin White and Dennis Rivers, both of Rosenberg, are in custody in Fort Bend County and Wharton County, respectively. White is expected to be moved to the Jackson County Jail.
“At this point we have identified almost a dozen players in the organization and ongoing investigations are being conducted by all seven counties that have been victimized in the Coastal Bend area,” said McCarrell. “They are suspected of over 25 burglaries in a seven-county area since September.”
McCarrell credits the keen eye of a Jackson County resident with breaking the case open. Shelley Graham of Jackson County spotted something amiss at her neighbor’s house, and called authorities.
“She took action and was able to provide Jackson County Sheriff's Office with descriptions of the subjects and their vehicle as it fled from the scene,” said McCarrell. “The vehicle was located where stolen property was recovered in previous burglaries in Jackson and Wharton Counties. This was a huge break in the cases. The investigation really took hold after that incident. Graham deserves to be commended for her bravery and commitment to her community.”
