Jane New

    Jane Fiew New, 81 of Edna passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016 at 10:25 p.m.  Jane was born on Sunday, Aug. 11, 1935 in Mission, Texas to Bemmie Lee Fiew, Sr. and Opal Lavonna Price Fiew. She married her soul mate, Oscar Louis New, on July 6, 1958, and they were best friends for 43 years. This loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend entered her Eternal Home in Heaven after battling cancer and other medical conditions.    Jane is survived by her three sons, Brent Wayne New and his wife Tana Lynn of Edna, James Louis "Bud" New of Edna, and Clarence Ray "Toot" New of Hallettsville; daughter Rebecca Lynne New Utesey and her husband Carlton Van Utesey of Edna; her nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, Brent Wayne New, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, and their children McKenna Kaitlynn and Colton Wade; Scott Alan New and his wife Mary Jane, and their children Jonathon Alan and Breanna Michelle; Joshua Louis New and his wife Nikole, and their children Emma Renee' and Brody Kain; Amanda New and her children, Hunter Levi, Haley Leann and Cody Allan; Clae' Ross New and his wife Melody, and their children Easton Ross and Brya Lynn; Lindsay Rae Wolff and her husband Andrew and their daughter, Emerli Rae; Jake Ryan New and Karli and their son, Jase Devin; Delynn Michael New and his daughter, Brylee Dawn; Justin Michael and his daughter, Lillian Elizabeth; her special loved one, Linda Ruth New; three sisters, Cynthia Nell Findley of Georgia, Fay Lorain Newman of Elgin, Texas, and Peggy Joyce Schauttet of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and one brother, James Arnold Fiew of Edna.    Jane is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oscar Louis New; her parents, her brothers, Donald Ray Fiew, Chester Lee Fiew, Bemmie Lee "John" Fiew, Jr.; and one sister, Beverly Ann Lowery.    "Mrs. Jane" owned and operated Jane's Child Care for several years, where she influenced many families, exemplifying great character and love for those she came in contact with. She was dear wife and mother, working right beside her husband and family. Her greatest joy in life was reading her Bible, spending time with loved ones, sitting in her swing on the porch enjoying nature around her, and working with her flowers. She is now at peace and enjoying the beauty of Heaven.    Visitation is Monday, Dec. 5, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Slavik ~ Edna Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service is Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. at Slavik ~ Edna Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Wayne New officiating, interment will immediately follow at Speaks Cemetery.     Pallbearers are her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren are her honorary pallbearers.    Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik ~ Edna Funeral Home, 361-782-2152.
