Guadalupe Castro
Guadalupe “Fuzzy Q Jones” Castro, of Edna, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016, with his loving family by his side at the age of 81. He was born in Goliad, Texas on February 3, 1935, to the late Encarnacion Castro and Anastasia Fuentes Castro.
He worked as a mechanic and in farming for several years. Guadalupe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be truly missed.
Guadalupe is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Matley Castro; daughters, Santos Castro (Victor), Eva Castro Zambrano (Mike), Amelia Castro (Edward), Lydia Castro Garcia (Simon), and Mary Castro; sons, Johnny Eric Castro (Pearl) Guadalupe Castro, Jr., Robert Castro (Nancy), Canderlio Castro (Diane), Pete Edward Castro (Edna), Antonio Castro, Alberto Castro, Adam Castro (Kristy); step-son, James Lee Matley; grandchildren raised by Guadalupe, Arianna Lucia Castaneda, Robert Carlos Castaneda, Jr., Salome Cristina Castaneda, and Moses Owen; brother, Enarnacion “Chon” Castro, Jr.; forty-six, grandchildren; seventy-seven, great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Guadalupe is preceded in death by his son, Richardo Castro; sisters, Eva Pena, Salome Castro, Santos Castro, Mary Betsy Castro; brother, Adam Castro, Manuel Castro, Conza Castro; grandson, Andrew Soto, and grandson, Wally Edward Castro.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., in the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Edna. Burial to follow in the Latin American Cemetery in Edna. Reverend Michael Petering will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Pete Ramos, Johnny Castro, Victor Delapaz, Sonny Guerra, Guadalupe Castro, Jr., and James Castro. Honorary Pallbearers are Ora Allen Matley, Edward Matley, Richard Guerra, Raymond Samora, Lee Cortenas, and Gilbert Castro.
