Cowboys fall to 3-2 against Rice

Despite looking for a win, the Cowboys fell to Rice 13-7 at home in Cowboy stadium.

The first half proved to be an extremely defensive one by both teams.

Cowboy Kenny Haynes ran in for the only touchdown of the night with 10:08 left in the second quarter. The extra point was good by Ronaldo Saenz. Edna 7, Rice 0.

A drive early in the third quarter gave the Rice Raiders their first touchdown. The point after was good and tied the score at seven all with 9:47 left.

Two field goals were attempted by Rice, but one was missed and another blocked by Cowboy Brad Kucera.

With eight seconds left in the game Rice found the end zone, but could not add on the extra point. This still gave them the lead they needed to win, and brought the score to 13-7 for a Raider win.

Edna is unable to defend their district championship because of this loss, but the possibilities for a playoff run is still high. The Cowboys will travel to Hallettsville next week.
