Mark Powers

Early Wednesday morning, Oct. 19, 2016, Mark William Powers passed away at the age of 65 in his hometown of Edna, Texas. He was born in Ganado on Sept. 17, 1951 to William Roger Powers and Leona Minnie Mascheck Powers.       Mark spent most of his life using his gifted skill doing painting and detailing work for Edna Body Shop and Tones Body Shop. In his free time he liked to visit with friends and attend family gatherings. He would spend hours watching TV and did not want you  to interrupt his shows, especially his soap operas. His favorite movies were John Wayne and Elvis Presley, he was also a big fan of the Houston Astros.     One of the best memories of Mark is when he would cruise through town to take his best friend and faithful companion "Sissy" for a car ride. You could tell it was them, because you could see the happy Yellow Lab sticking her head out of the car window enjoying the wind. Those that knew and cared for Mark will always remember his beautiful clear blue eyes and his kind heart.     Mark is preceded in death by his parents, and his oldest brother, Roger Powers.     He is survived by two brothers, Leon Powers and Dennis Powers.     Continuing with his strong Catholic heritage, he was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna.       Interment was in Memory Gardens of Edna, under the direction of Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home.       Memorial contributions can be made to Happy Tails Animal Shelter, P.O.Box 1305, Edna, TX  77957.
