Martin Tristan Sr.
Martin Matias Tristan, Sr., 76, born in Ganado on Feb. 24, 1940 to Primitivo Tristan, Sr., and Maria Castro Tristan, passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2016 in San Antonio. Martin worked for San Antonio Bag & Burlap as a truck driver for 22 years until he retired and then became a custodial worker for the Northeast Independent School District in San Antonio. He loved to travel and was a musician with his conjunto band, Los Vientos Del Norte de Martin Tristan. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Primitivo Tristan, Sr., mother Maria Castro Tristan, brothers Dionicio Tristan, Sr., Raymond Tristan, Pete Tristan, Primitivo Tristan, Jr., sisters Virginia Vasquez, Beatrice Bustamente and Caroline Cortes. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Olga C. Tristan. He is also survived by his children, Martin Tristan, Jr., Michael Tristan (wife, Dolores), Ronald Tristan, Patsy Araiza (husband, Fred), Mark Sanchez (wife, Rosalinda), Gene Tristan (wife, Haverly), 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Martin will be greatly missed by his family, friends and especially his surviving brothers Isidor Tristan, Carlos Tristan, sisters Mary C. Tristan, Georgia Rymers and Laura Mendez. Serving as pallbearers will be Carlos Tristan, Martin Tristan, Jr., Gene Tristan, Michael Tristan, Jr., Ty Jacob Tristan, Jose Viera and Carlos E. Tristan. Honorary pallbearer will be Oscar Diego Garcia. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1321 El Paso St, San Antonio. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II. Services under the direction of Castillo Mission Funeral Home.
