Leopards claw the Cobras (4-1)

By Michael Brooks

Turnovers were the name of the game between Industrial and Van Vleck, and the latter capitalized on four in the first half, and defeated Industrial 28-7.
After returning the opening kickoff to the Leopards 37-yard line, the Cobras first offensive drive ended in an interception. The Leopards quarterback Easton Brown quickly turned that move into a 7-0 lead. Brown then completed a 12 yard pass followed by a 30 yard touchdown pass on Van Vleck's first drive of the game.
The Cobras punted on their next drive, and Brown again completed a touchdown pass, this time for 57 yards to put the Leopards up 14-0.
After another four and out on their next drive, Cobra Bailey Kolb recovered a Leopard fumble, but the Cobras fumbled the ball right back to Van Vleck. In this drive, the Leopards couldn't convert the turnovers into points and punted.
Industrial followed up with their first long drive of the game on their next possession when they collected their two first downs of the game but the drive ended with an interception that was returned 58 yards for a touchdown, and the Leopards ended the first quarter leading 21-0.
The Cobras moved the ball well in the second quarter but after exchanging fumbles, Brown again reached the end zone through the air with a 13 yard touchdown pass that put the Leopards up to a 28-0 score that they would carry to halftime.
Industrial came out moving the ball in the second half and on their third drive of the third quarter, quarterback Jesse Rodriguez completed a pass that was fumbled into the end zone. This time, the Cobras recovered their own fumble  and got on the board, trailing 28-7.
The Cobras moved the ball well for the second half of the game but never were able to find the end zone again and ended up losing 28-7 to drop their overall record to 4-1 on the season and 0-1 in district play.
