Edna takes a loss against Sweeny

By Millie Diaz

It was clear the highlight of Edna's loss to Sweeny was a pass late in the game from Reese Orsak to his older brother Cade for the last touchdown of the game. Although they lost the game 35-21, the pass between brothers lifted Cowboy fan's spirits.

Edna received the kickoff and earned a first down after a 4th and one, but turned over the ball all too quickly. Sweeny then executed a 31-yard touchdown to put points on the board, and Edna couldn't do the same in the first quarter.

Soon after in the second quarter though, the 'Boys tied up the game with seven all when Brad Kucera scored a touchdown with 9:45 left. A defensive tackle from Tristen Pruitt was noted, but not without the Bulldogs barking back and scoring again with 4:41 left in the first half.

Quarterback Landon O'Connor completed a touchdown and tied the score again 14 all with 2:21 left in the half.

Sweeny faked a punt after downs in the next drive and threw for a good touchdown, bringing the score to 21-14 at halftime. The score was the same at the end of the third quarter.

Jeffrey Muncrief, Wesley Boone, Cade Orsak and Pruitt all put forth effort for defensive plays, but the Bulldogs scored again at the end of the third quarter with 2:17 left. Muncrief tackled again for a loss of yards on the Sweeny side.

Reese stepped in as quarterback, allowing O'Connor to carry the ball a bit, but it appeared to be too late. At 7:14 in the fourth quarter Sweeny scored again. With 2:57 left in the game the pass between Reese and Cade was made, but it wasn't enough to bring the Cowboys a win. Final score: 35-21, Sweeny.
