Cobras prevent Flyers take-off

By Paul Harrison

A defensive struggle in Victoria Sept. 16 saw the game decided in the final minutes as Industrial beat the St. Joseph Flyers on the road 28-20.

The teams totaled 20 penalties, but turnovers made the difference as a pair of Flyer turnovers inside their 20-yard line we converted into Cobra points to give Industrial the lead early in the second quarter. A fumble by the Cobras at midfield tied the game when it was returned for a score, with the 2-point conversion, 14-all.

Industrial righted the ship and locked it down to two penalties for the rest of the game. An interception with four minutes to play gave Industrial the ball back with the lead.

The Cobras killed clock for the final score after a St. Joe penalty on fourth-and-inches gave Industrial a fresh set of downs.
