Indians wage war on Hornets

The Ganado Indians faced the Louise Hornets Aug. 26 and dominated 47-8.     “We’re getting better every week, and at times we played extremely well tonight,” Head Coach Keith Wright said of the game.  “I don’t think the penalties had any bearing... one of the things I was concerned with was we did turn the ball over.” Despite the turnovers and mistakes made in any season’s first game, Wright recognized the success of his offense, saying “We did throw the ball really well, we opened up our offense.  A lot of guys got the ball, and M.D. [Maresh] did good at running the offense.”

Indian Matthew Sterling is positive about the team’s offense, especially after the game. “I think it’s going to be really good. We work hard every day and fight and fight.” He even went on to credit the work of the Hornet defense for their challenge in the game.     The Indians will face the Palacios Sharks, who finished with a season record of 1-9 last year and have five starters returning for both offense and defense. The game will be in Palacios, Sept. 2 with kick-off set for 7:30 p.m.
