The Wright Choice

Bobby Jack Wright is joining the Edna Cowboy football staff.

Athletic Director Huey Chancellor said Wright's first day will be on Monday, Aug. 8.

Wright, with his longest tenure at the University of Oklahoma, has coached 21 bowl games in his 42 years of coaching. His career also took him to coach at Texas A&I, North Texas and University of Texas, in various positions.

He has led Longhorn players like wide receiver Mike Adams and kicker Phil Dawson.

Wright also worked with Bob Stoops, who led OU to a football national championship in 2000 and nine Big 12 championships ranging from 2000 to 2015.

Check the Aug. 10 sports issue for comments from football players on his arrival to Edna and more on Wright's decision.
