Ramona Nava

    Ramona Montez Nava, of Edna passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, at the age of 83. She was born June 22, 1933, in Edna,  to the late Desiderio Montez and Rosa Sanchez Montez.     Ramona was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Sowders Club, The Texana Trail Raiders, Catholic Daughters, and a CCD helper. She also worked at St. Agnes Catholic Church for numerous priests for several decades as a homemaker. She loved dancing and spending time with her family and friends. Ramona was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed dearly.       She is survived by her daughters, Lydia Gutierrez and Elia Cortez; sister, Molly Riojas; brothers, Tony Montez and Johnny Garza; grandchildren, Mark Anthony Cuellar, Amberley Gutierrez, Adrianne Gutierrez, and Lei-An Nava; great-granddaughter, Melinda Atzenhoffer; longtime companion, Albert Vaclavik; half-sister, Angelita Montez Cortez; half-brother, Gilbert Montez and other numerous half brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and friends.     Ramona is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Nava; son, Hector Rene Nava; brother, Frank Montez; sisters, Lupe Figirova and Sarah Guillen.     Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna. Rev. Michael Petering will be officiating. Burial to follow at Latin American Cemetery in Edna.     Pallbearers will be Luke Samora, Michael Flores, Jimmy Riojas, Toby Garza, Frank Montez, Jr., and Zack Lopez.     Memorials may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 506 Allen, Edna Texas, 77957.     Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna 361-782-2221.
