Jane Hammack Browning, 74, of Edna began her heavenly journey on March 26, 2016.
Jane’s great loves were her family, church and dear friends. Her family fondly remembers her love of poetry and the family gatherings she hosted. Jane loved playing bridge, attending the UMW circle meetings and the Wine and Read gatherings with her friends. Jane taught elementary school for 41 years and often shared one of her favorite quotes by Edwin Markham with her students: “There is a destiny which makes us brothers; none goes his way alone. All that we send into the life of others comes back into our own.”
She is survived by her daughter Hope Browning of Katy, and her granddaughter, Kirsten Buzzell of Millington, Tenn. Jane is also survived by her sister, Jeanette Hammack Wharton and husband George of Dallas, and her brother, Robert Lee Hammack, of Kenedy. She is survived by her nephews Richard and Brian Wharton and Kevin and Christopher Hammack and their families.
Jane will be joining her beloved husband, Coleman L. Browning, and her son Shane Lee Browning in a glorious reunion. She was also preceded in death by her father, the late Pryor Lamar Hammack, and her mother Loretta Von Rosenberg Hammack.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Edna at 11 a.m. on April 9.
Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Edna or the charity of your choice.
