Eunice May Hicks

Eunice Mae McDonald Hicks, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the age of 92. She was born in Morales on Jan. 10, 1924, to the late Valso Alexander McDonald and Alice Mae Hokit McDonald.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be truly missed. Eunice was a life-long resident of Jackson County, she was also the Valedictorian of her class in Morales. She loved to cook, garden and read. 
Eunice is survived by her daughters, Jeannie Browning and her husband James, Debbie Carroll and her husband Jim, Billie Rae Hayden and her husband Craig; sons, F.D. “Spud” Ellison and his wife Ginger, Michael G. Hicks and his wife Susie, Jeff Hicks, Clinton Hicks and his wife Leah; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Billy Eugene Hicks; daughter, Nancy Ann Hicks; sister, Nellie Ellison, Mary Newton, Nancy “Polly” Chivers; brother, Donald J. McDonald; and great-grandson, Weston Kuchler.  
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 10 a.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Eric Prove and Bill Shaw will be officiating. Burial to follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna.
Pallbearers will be Cory Ellison, Blake Carroll, Cole Hicks, Clayton Hayden, Luke Hicks, Vince Whitley, James Kuchler, and Jason Spann. Honorary pallbearers are all grandchildren, Layne Hicks, Kelly Janica, Steve Sample, Lee Putnam, David Egg, Bill Shaw, and Bryan Miska.
