Gerald Bures

Gerald A. (Rabbit) Bures Sr., 86 of Ganado passed away Thursday Jan. 28, 2016. He was born May 10, 1929 in Ganado to the late Emil and Theresa Orkulik Bures. Gerald retired from Alcoa in 1983, after 33 years of service in the Power Dept. He was also a farmer and rancher.  e was a KC member at Assumption Catholic Church.
Gerald served his country during the Korean War in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife Alice Macha Bures; daughters Sandra (John) Martin of Brownwood, Cathy (Rory)Hafernick of Bay City, Cynthia Bures of Ganado, Mary (Craig) Stavinoha of East Bernard; sons Dennis (Cindy), Steven, and David (Renee) Bures, all of Ganado, and Gerald Bures Jr. (Kelly) of Tennessee. Also surviving is his brother Albert Bures of Cuero; sister Angie Smith of Victoria; 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. 
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Emil and Bernard Bures, half-brothers Edward and Jerome Bures, and half-sister, Annie Schultz.
Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 31, at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel, 800 So. Third St., with a rosary recited at 6 pm. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Clem Quainoo and Rev. Michael Lyons officiating.
Interment will follow in the Assumption Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Howard Wood, Derek Hafernick, David Lee Jr. and Justin Bures, John Henry Martin Jr., Jason Bures and Zachery Stavinoha. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
