Motley to perform at Center for Arts

Local musician/songwriter Jack Motley will perform at The Texana Center for the Arts on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
Motley’s album, “Glad I’m From Texas” will be the theme for the evening and Motley will perform various songs he has written and recorded.
“TCA is proud to present this first concert at our facility,” said Morris Williams, volunteer with the art center. “It is a departure from our usual visual arts education and appreciation showcases. We encourage everyone to attend and listen to one of Jackson County's finest talents.”
After being self-employed, a school teacher and counselor for about 30 years, one day Jack Motley decided that he was going to write a song or two. His life’s experience was full of stories that he believed would be of interest to others, so he devoted a good deal of time and energy to honing his skills.
The story behind Jack’s music is not an ordinary tale. Unlike many singer-songwriters who begin writing when they are in their youth, his venture into the world on songwriting began in 1988 while sitting outside his ranch house and taking in the beauty of his surroundings.
It was then that Jack felt like he had a story to tell. A story of life in the most precarious of situations, and a story of love like you’ve never heard it expressed before. Make no mistake, as serious as some songs are, Jack Motley can find humor in just about anything that crosses his path, and he is not afraid to turn any or all of that into songs.
Jack’s first CD, “In Treatment,” was released in 2005. His latest CD, recorded in 2015, “Glad I’m From Texas,” is currently available wherever Jack is playing. It will be available online very soon.
Tickets are $10 each may be purchased at the art center prior to the show for reserved seating and will be sold at the door for non-reserved seating.
"Glad I'm From Texas" promises to be an intimate evening of listening enjoyment.
