Early voting begins Oct. 19

There are seven propositions on the Nov. 3 ballot for constitutional amendments.
Some of the propositions of interest to Jackson County residents include an amendment increasing the homestead exemption, changing the requirement that state officers reside in the state capital, permitting professional sports team charitable foundations to conduct raffles, recognizing the right of the people to hunt and fish wildlife subject to laws that promote conservation and dedicating sales and use tax revenues to provide funding for roads.

Early voting for the election will be conducted in the Jackson County Clerk’s office, located in the county courthouse at 115 W. Main in Edna, from Oct. 19 through Oct. 30 during normal business hours.
Absentee voting is available for registered voters who will be out of Jackson County on election day and during the hours of early voting, are sick or disabled, are 65 years of age or older on election day or are confined in jail. They may request a ballot by mail from the county clerk’s office. The completed application must be received by the county clerk’s office by Friday, Oct. 23 in order to receive a ballot by mail.
Registered voters must present a photo ID to vote.
