Maidens reach for their goals

    The Ganado Maiden defeated the Victoria Cobras on Sept. 1 in three games, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20.
    Cheyenne Galindo had 10 kills, 5 aces, a dig and two blocks, while Delaney Workman and Mikaela Skalicky had one kill and a dig each. Nicole Ressman had two kills, two aces and 11 digs, while Alexis Mojica had an ace and two digs. Kylie Hicks also added an ace while Rose Contreras had two digs.
    The Maidens played the Victoria Cobras again on Sept. 4 and won in three out of four games, 25-21, 25-10, 18-25, and 25-21.
    Hicks, one of the top servers on the team, said she focuses on making sure her serves hit all around the court on the other side. “As a team we’ve been focusing on staying behind the ball and keeping low,” she said. “For the next game we’ll be working on hitting and passing.” Hicks added the team has been getting along well and are on their way to being like family.
    The Maidens will have played Schulenburg in their first district game on Sept. 8, and will play Industrial there on Friday, Sept. 11.
