3A Palacios meet results for Edna and Cobras

    The Edna and Industrial Cross-Country boys and girls’teams competed in a District 28-3A Palacios cross-country meet on Aug. 22 at the Palacios Marine Center. The boys ran three miles and the girls ran two.
    The Industrial Cobra varsity boys brought home first place overall, and freshman Kevin Baez finished 1st with a time of 11:49, while Leo Baez placed 2nd with a time of 12:13. Matthew Kor placed 10th, Montavius Coleman placed 11th and Philip Kolodziejcyzk placed 14th.
    For the Cowboys, Zachery Yendrey placed 28th with a time of 16 minutes, Tre Evans placed 33rd with a time of 18:54, Justin Rainey placed 34th with a time of 19:13 and Tommy Rodriguez placed 35th with a time of 19:19.
    The Industrial Cobra varsity girls placed 3rd overall. Cassidy High placed 4th with a time of 13:01, Sasha Salazar placed 15th, Cheyenne Burton placed 16th, Natalie Boldt placed 21st and Hannah Wood placed 28th.
    Cowgirls Dolly Ortiz placed 35th with a time of 18:28 and Jessica Granados placed 36th with a time of 19:10.
    Coach Brett Nidey said the course in Palacios was very wet and muddy. “It was good to get a meet under our belt, so we can work on lowering our times,” he said.
    The Industrial Cobras will compete again on Saturday, Aug. 29 in the Lockhart Invitational. The Edna teams will be competing on Saturday, Sept. 12 in Moulton.
