Edna Elementary School will welcome a new assistant principal in the fall of 2015. Jason Chandler, a 1994 graduate of EHS and former high school teacher in the district will be joining the elementary staff.
Chandler has been a teacher for 16 years, spending the last three years in the district teaching algebra II, geometry, and algebra I, he said.
He has also helped with the one act play and coordinated UIL activities while at the high school.
“I took pride in knowing that whenever my bosses had something that needed to be done they knew they could come to me and I would take care of it,” said Chandler.
Prior to joining the Edna staff, Chandler worked at Palacios High School for seven years teaching science and technology related classes, and several math classes. He was student council sponsor and received nine awards given by students to the educator that had the biggest impact on their lives.
He said he looks forward to the change, although it will take some adjustment, since he is used to a very hands on, engaging approach to education.
“It is definitely going to be different, not being in the classroom teaching students every day,” he said, “but I am looking forward to being able to serve even more students and staff members in my new position.”
He enjoys being part of a school district he believes is destined for greatness.
“My goal is to help make Edna ISD and Edna Elementary School the best in the state, and I look forward to working with the wonderful administration and staff at EES.”
Chandler lives in Edna with his wife Jennifer and two children.
