Tropical Storm Bill to make landfall Tuesday morning

Tropical Storm Bill is on a crash course with the Texas coast, and Jackson County is right in the line of fire. It is set to make landfall in Matagorda County between 7 and 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
Bill is still not very well organized, but currently carries winds of 50-60 mph, and is moving steadily forward, possibly intensifying before it reaches land to 55 mph with 65 mph gusts.
The wind forecast for Monday night is still at 30-50 mph with gusts around 60.
The Emergency Operations Center said Tropical Storm Bill will dump between five and seven inches of rain in most of the coastal region, with some areas, Jackson County included, possibly receiving higher amounts.
With the ground already saturated, the chief concern is flash flooding, as well as significant winds. Jackson County is very near the center of the projected path of the storm, and can expect to see higher winds than areas closer to the outside of the storm, which will continue even after the storm reaches the coast.
Another webinar with the EOC is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday. For regular updates, visit the Jackson County Texas Emergency Management Facebook page.
