1-10 closed between Sealy and Waller County

The Texas Department of Transportation has closed I-10 in both directions Wednesday afternoon after an 18-wheeler collided with and damaged an overpass column at mile marker 725 between Sealy and the Waller County line.

All interstate traffic in both directions is being diverted to the frontage roads until TxDOT engineers can assess the damage to the bridge column that was struck. Drivers can anticipate lengthy delays in this area.

It is unknown how long the interstate will be closed, though we are hoping to reopen the highway to traffic later this afternoon or evening. Please monitor DriveTexas.org and the Yoakum District Twitter feed for the latest updates.

All inquiries regarding the wreck investigation should be made to your appropriate DPS PIO.
