Leverette Gerdes

Leverette Lanette Gerdes, of Edna passed away Monday, May 25, 2015, at the age of 81. She was born July 15, 1933, in Fallon, Texas, to the late Raymond Jefferson Derrick and Martha Alley Hammont.
Leverette co-owned Carpet Care and Air Duct Cleaning with her husband, Tony. She was president of the Pilots Club, and an active member of The American Legion Organization, The Texana Red Hat Dolls and The First Baptist Church of Edna. She loved to can fruits, vegetables, jellies and jams. She enjoyed gardening and needlework. Leverette was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her daughters, Delores Ann Marshall of Houston and Nancy Elizabeth Gerdes of Edna; sons, Dr. Anthony Martin Gerdes III and his wife Bonnie of New York and Christopher Lee Gerdes and his wife Nadezhda of Vietnam; sisters, Linda Lucille McFarland and her husband William of Edna; brother, Raymond Ernest Derrick and his wife Tana of Missouri City; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many loving family members and friends.
Leverette is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Anthony Martin Gerdes, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be Thursday, May 28, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Edna. Reverends Robert Krause and William McFarland will be officiating. Burial to follow at Memory Gardens in Edna. 
Pallbearers will be Daniel Marshall, Joshua Marshall, Keyan Zandy, Shane McCartney, Carson Marshall and Chris Reed.
