Scholarships awarded at annual JEC meeting
Jackson Electric Cooperative awarded ten $1,000.00 scholarships during the annual membership meeting held May 16 at the Hafernick Center in Brackenridge Park. Those receiving scholarships were, from left, Kara Bickham, Sarah Bubela, Megan Callaway, Elizabeth Callis, Rachel Chovanec, Maci Engelmohr, William Roger Gay, Jr., Brianna Hendry, Winston Cole McKnight, III and Thanh Phuong Thi Nguyen. The meeting this year, attended by 161 members and their families, was dedicated to Manager Roy Griffin who is retiring June 15. Griffin has provided 32 years of dedicated and loyal service to the Cooperative. Service awards were presented to Annabelle Gonzales, 5 years; Martin Palomares and Ed York, 10 years; David James, 15 years and Director Michael Jacobs, 15 years. There being no contested director race this year, the incumbents will each serve another 3 year term. These directors are: District 3, Michael Jacobs; District 5 Bruce Elliott; District 8, Ray Brundrett; and District 11, Dick Koop. An amendment to the By-Laws changing the number of members needed for a quorum passed. A meal of brisket and sausage served by Mustang Creek BBQ was followed by a drawing of door prizes. The oath of office and election of Board officers was administered by Cooperative attorney, John Merck. Officers are: President, Herff Cornelius; Vice President, Dick Koop and Secretary-Treasurer, Michael Jacobs.
