‘Girls learning discipline

The Edna Cowgirls played the Rice Consolidated Raiders at home on March 27, and lost, 12-1. Kim Ortolon had the one hit and scored on stolen bases. Brittany Ressman pitched with one strikeout, while Kirstie Soto finished pitching the game and had five strikeouts.
Coach Lindsey Moehlig said the team is progressing this year with an enhancement of knowledge in game awareness. “They’re learning the importance of pitch discipline and communication both offensively and defensively. They are also gaining a better understanding of helping each other out to make the game easier on themselves,” she said. “We are struggling right now with execution but the girls are finding it a little each game. We are pouring our focus at practice and on game days into short term goals which are to aim to beat our opponent on that day.” Moehlig added that they are also focusing on doing the little things right all the time. “If we continue to work hard, and keep our goals in mind we can regain a winning record.  The town, parents and coaching staff all believe in their ability to play the game well and to come out on top,” she ended.
