‘Boys raid Rice baseball

    The Edna Cowboys played Rice Consolidated on March 27 at home and won 7-4. Colton Richmond pitched the win with six innings pitched, three runs, two hits, two strikeouts, and seven walks. Billy Ganem closed the game pitching one inning and had one run, one hit, three strikeouts and two walks. Zak Zantjer was their catcher.
    Coach Troy Holcombe said the ‘Boys have been playing a lot better. “They’re figuring it out,” he said.”
    Caleb Ellison had two singles and one run scored, while Richmond had a single and a walk, and Zantjer had a run batted in. Ronaldo Saenz had a double, a run batted in, one run scored and a strikeout. Landon Myers had two runs scored and a double, and Jake Johnson had a double, two runs batted in and two walks.
    “After last Friday night’s win we’re tied for third and have seven games to go so anything can happen,” Holcombe said.
    The Cowboys district record is 1-2. They will be playing on Thursday, April 2, at home against Palacios.
