Officers arrest Edna man for growing marijuana

An Edna man is in the Jackson County Jail after he was arrested Monday evening by Jackson County deputies. According to Rick Boone, chief deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Kyle Gregory, 31, was charged with Delivery of Marijuana, more than 5 pounds, less than 50 pounds.
Boone said the sheriff’s office received an anonymous call that marijuana was being grown at a residence at 716 Gilbert St.
“With that information we responded and set up surveillance,” Boone said. “After several hours we were able to detain two individuals which led to one arrest.”
Kyle Gregory and his wife, Diana Gregory, were both arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail. Diana Gregory was later released, Boone said, with no charges pending. The couple did not live at the residence where the marijuana was located.
Kyle Gregory is currently on probation and has a pending DWI charge, Boone added.
He said officers discovered between 30 to 50 marijuana plants being hydroponically grown at the residence.
“It was well-organized and had the potential of being a pretty large operation,” Boone said.
Deputies collected the plants and they will be sent off to the DPS Crime Lab where Boone said they will be dried, harvested and weighed.
“This is not something we stumble on every day,” Boone said.
