Maidens nearly tame the Lady Cats

The Ganado Maidens played the Weimar Lady Cats in a home game and lost, 6-8.

The Lady Cats started the game scoring four in their half of the first inning, and the Maidens responded with two points of their own. Hannah Janssen made some great moves getting some Cats out on first base, and Cheyenne Galindo made the crowd cheer with her shot at bat.

The score was still 4-2 in Weimar's favor at the end of the third inning, but Weimar raised their score by two points in the middle of the fourth inning. Alexis Mojica, Taylor Mirelez and Kendall Alvarez made some notable moves for their team before the start of the fifth inning.

The Maidens came up by the end of the game with four points scored, but Weimar still added two to their score.

Coach Malina Andel stressed that the Maidens played hard. "I couldn't have asked for any more from my girls. We made a few mistakes, but we capitalized on their mistakes as well," she said. "I'm proud of the way we played, now we just need to take care of business on Thursday."

The Maidens will face Flatonia at home on Thursday, April 2.
