‘Girls prepare for Brahmas

    The Edna Cowgirls played in a softball Flatonia tournament from Thursday to Saturday, from March 12-14.
    Their first game was against St. Paul from Shiner and the ‘Girls won, 11-6. Leading hitters were Kirstie Soto, Alyssa Cavazos, Tia Hart, Ashley Soto and Shermeka Thompson, while Hart and Thompson each had a home run. Kaitlyn Coleman pitched the game and had six runs, 13 hits, a walk and five strikeouts.
    The Cowgirls then played Louise and won 13-0. Leading hitters were Chasity Richmond, K. Soto, Kim Ortolon, Brittany Ressman, Hart, A. Soto and Thompson. Ressman pitched the game and had two walks and eight strikeouts.
    The Cowgirls also played the Wharton Tigers on Tuesday, March 10 during spring break and lost, 5-6. Coleman, Ressman and Thompson pitched the game.
    The Edna Cowgirl softball  record before District is 6-5-1.
