Construction workers are currently building a new cafeteria for Ganado Independent School District just outside of the media center. Rusty Wallace of Owners Building Resource, LLC gave a construction update during a regular Ganado ISD school board meeting on Jan. 22.
Wallace said Owners Building Resource has been making progress. He said Bass Construction has completed the excavation in the back of the building and has placed new padding. Insulation of underground plumbing in both new pads is complete, he added.
“As of yesterday, they completed the excavation and wrapping of the grade beams for the new kitchen extension, that’s putting in moisture barrier followed by rebar and anticipation of placing concrete in the grade beams,” Wallace said. “The grade beams have been placed in the kitchen extension pad and then both pad sites have been coated in plastic to try to keep them as moisture free as possible so we can get back on it as soon as the rain allows. As soon as the rain does allow, we will begin excavation of the grade beams in the new restrooms, set the remainder of the foundation forms and begin to get concrete on both pad sites.”
