First Christmas with baby Shapiro

This holiday season has been extra special around our household this year. Our little bundle of joy, Logan Alexander Shapiro,  is experiencing everything for the very first time. From gifts to Santa Claus, he hasn’t quite comprehended the meaning and what they are yet, but he has taken everything very well so far.
On Friday, he sat on Santa’s lap for the very first time. I was worried he would be very scared of him because he is so small. But for a 3 1/2 month old it didn’t faze him at all. He just sat on his lap watching everyone around him probably wondering what the big commotion was about. When I was little, I bawled my eyes out when I sat on Santa’s lap so I was very proud of him.
Logan and I have spent some nights sitting together around the Christmas tree. I read him a Christmas book, such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas, while we sit and look at the Christmas tree lights and decorations. He sometimes dozes off and falls asleep. I just place a blanket on him and let him be.
I have Christmas lights up on his bedroom walls and he just looks around his room and sometimes stares at the many different colored lights. I point at each one and tell him what color they are.
Aside from the Christmas holiday, he also has been learning about what Hanukkah is because he has family members who are Jewish. I hope he learns how to respect both Christians and Jews. So many wars are brought about over religion.
I am looking forward to celebrating Christmas this coming Thursday. I think it will be a real treat to have him around, and he can watch others open their presents, sing Christmas Carols, watch Christmas movies and have a Christmas dinner together as a family. He will learn the true Christmas spirit.
