McFarlands celebrate golden anniversary

William and Linda McFarland celebrated their 50th anniversary on Nov. 27.  Prior to the event they flew to Madrid, Spain and visited Segovia, Toledo, and Avila. They rode the high speed train to Barcelona and visited with friends before embarking on a transatlantic cruise terminating in New Orleans.
The day after their Thanksgiving anniversary, the family hosted a small reception for family and friends at the McFarland home.
Linda is a past graduate of Ganado High School; Bill is from Hayward, Calif. They met at the student union building at SFA in the spring of 1964 and married in their senior year of college.
Bill and Linda are both retired professionals. Bill graduated from Stephen F. Austin University and Southwestern Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree and pastored churches for 40 years in Arizona and Texas. Linda graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with a Bachelor of Science degree and Texas State University with a master’s in Special Education. She taught school for 35 years in Arizona and Texas in the fields of science and culinary arts.
They have two sons and daughter-in-laws, Dale (Suzette) living in Chicago and Paul (Judith) living in El Paso. They are blessed with four granddaughters, Jessika, Kali, Sierra and Abigail.
The McFarlands are happy to call Edna their home and have met many new friends since moving here 11 years ago.
