Edna ‘Girls play hard, win hard
The Edna Cowgirls played the Bloomington Bobcats on Dec. 2 and won, 38-35.
Head Coach Brett Nidey said the the team's defensive pressure was the key. "We didn't shoot very well in the first half, but came alive in the second quarter."
Kacey Nidey scored 16 points, two rebounds, an assist, four steals, a block and two deflections, while Haley Mitchell scored 10 points and three rebounds. Sierra Pruitt scored seven points, five rebounds, an assist and three steals, in addition to Tamara Mathis' three points, four rebounds and a steal. Kim Ortolon scored two points plus a steal, while Rylee Morrow had four rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Bailey Brown had a rebound, a block, and a deflection, plus M'kayla Barnes' rebound. Kirstie Soto had a rebound, and Ashley Soto had a deflection.
The 'Girls played in a tournament, and played the Louise Hornets and won, 58-15.
Mathis scored 15 points, eight rebounds, three steals, an assist and three deflections, plus Nidey's 14 points, one rebound, four steals, four assists and two deflections. Pruitt scored seven points, a rebound, two steals, five assists and two deflections, while Mitchell, Barnes and K. Soto each scored six points. K, Soto also had two rebounds, four steals and two assists, and Barnes had a steal and a rebound. Mitchell added a rebound, a steal, an assist and two deflections. A. Soto and Brown scored two points apiece, in addition to Brown's four rebounds and four steals, while A. Soto had three rebounds, a steal, two assists and a deflection. Ortolon had a rebound, a steal, seven deflections and two assists, while Morrow had three steals and a deflection.
