William Hensley
William Martin Hensley, 60, of Texas City died Nov. 3, 2014 in Victoria. The third son of Carl Ray and Lydia Boehm Hensley was born Feb. 13, 1954 in Wharton. He grew up in Ganado, graduating from Ganado High School in 1973. After high school, William spent time living with the Franciscans in New Mexico. He earned an Associate Arts degree from Trinity Valley College in Palestine in 1981. William lived most of his adult life in Texas City.
Bill, as he was known to his Texas City friends and co-workers, worked 18 years in maintenance at Mainland Medical Center. After health issues required him to leave that position, he managed a cleaning service with his partner in life, Margo Miller. Bill was an active member of the Salvation Army where he found opportunities to share his love of life and his uncommon sense of humor which was with him until his last days. Bill held a blue belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was a registered member of the Professional Bull Riders Association. He loved his life in Texas City and particularly his devoted friends, Faye Bohannan, Domingo Alvarado, Joe Amato and Lieutenant Andrew Thorson.
William was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie and Anne Wenske Boehm, his paternal grandparents, RL and Ethel Johnson Hensley, his parents, and his life partner, Margo Miller.
William is survived by his brothers, David Hensley (Nelda) of Victoria, Anthony (Red) Hensley (Marilynn) of Ganado, Daniel Hensley also of Ganado, and John Hensley (Diana) of San Benito; nephews, Aaron Hensley of League City, Clint Hensley (Laura) of Edna, Bret Hensley (Sherri) of Port Angeles, Wa., Adam Hensley of Austin, Dylan Hensley of San Benito and his niece, Kaylee Hensley also of San Benito; his uncle, Edward Boehm (Florence) of Schulenburg, and his aunt, Corrian Boehm Boch of Ganado; and numerous cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. Deacon Ed Wendel of Louise will lead the services, with Anthony Hensley assisting. William’s ashes will be interred between his parents in the Catholic cemetery in Ganado.
