Maidens work at a common goal

    The Ganado Maidens played Refugio on Nov. 24 and won 44-29.
    Taylor Mirelez scored 20 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three deflections, plus Valeria Garcia's nine points, 10 rebounds, and a steal. Sarah Novak and Desirea Vasquez sach scored six points, and Novak added four rebounds, three steals and a deflection, plus Vasquez's four assists and three steals. Cheyenne Galindo scored two points, five rebounds, a steal and a deflection, and Sierra Salazar scored a point, two rebounds, an assist, three steals, a block and a deflection.
    Salazar said the team is getting along great, and has been communicating well in practice. “As a team we are working a lot on our outside shots and working on our posts,” she said. “Another strength of the team is our attitude and our overall leadership of the team. Everybody works as one and one works as all.”
    The Maidens also played Moulton on Nov. 25 and lost 44-46.
    Mirelez scored 44 points, 12 rebounds, an assist and two deflections, plus Galindo's 14 points, five rebounds and a block. Salazar scored six points, a rebound, an assist, a steal and a deflection, while Novak scored two points, had an assist and a steal plus a deflection. Vasquez had five assists and a steal, Haley Kelly had three rebounds, and Lizzie Callis had an assist.
