J B Housson

    J B Housson of Ganado passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Nov. 21, 2014, at the age of 87. J B was born on April 23, 1927, in Batson to Joe and Bess Shirley Housson. Upon high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in World War ll. After completing his military service, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1949 from Sam Houston State Teacher’s College (Sam Houston State University), in Huntsville.
    J B’s job with Mobil Oil brought him to Jackson County where he met his wife of 62 years, the love of his life, Georgia Marie Marek Housson. J B will forever be remembered by his children, Joe B., (Lisa) Housson, Jayson Housson, James Housson, and Sandra “Tanny” (Dr. P. Charles) Romanick, treasured grandchildren Jacob (Lindsey) Housson, Tracy (Travis) Kepp, son and daughter of Joe B. , Catherine Ann, Mary Grace and Peter Romanick, daughters and son of Tanny, Jenna Rae, Blaine, Emma Caroline, Lexi Housson, son and daughters of James, Hayden and Cole Housson, sons of Jayson. J B also is survived by five precious great-grandchildren along with 12 nieces and nephews that he truly adored.
    J B was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bess, his son, John “Babe” Housson, his brother Joe Housson and his sister Olivia Hallett.
    J B and Georgia enjoyed a wonderful marriage and successful business partnership in Jackson Count, Texas all of their married life. In 1953 J B and Georgia opened their first of many businesses H&M Food Market and were followed by Housson Department Store, Jackson County Clothiers, and Express Finance. J B also was owner and operator of J B Housson Real Estate. He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church, American Legion Post 346, Ganado Lions Club and Ganado Jaycees. He also served his community of Ganado as a city councilmen as well as was appointed by Governor Mark White to serve on the board of directors of Lavaca Navidad River Authority. J B was well-known and touched the lives of many people. He was known as an honest, fair, and very appreciative gentle man.
    He loved his family deeply who will keep his legacy in their hearts forever.
    Pallbearers are his grandchildren, Jacob Housson, Hayden Housson, Blaine Housson, Cole Housson, Peter Ramanick, Tavis Kepp; son-in-law, Cisco Marek, nephews, Mark Marek, Kevin Muegge, Hondo Marek, Shannon Housson, Mathew Housson, and Paul David Hallett.
    Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, Nov. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado. Burial will follow at the Assumption Catholic Cemetery.
