Effie Scherer

    Effie Stella Scherer, of Edna, age 80, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014. She was born in Victoria on Sept. 16, 1934, to the late Frank and Alice Berryhill Zbikowski.
    Effie loved to work on the farm she was a farmer for many years. She was also a loving wife, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed. She touched the hearts of everyone that knew her.
    Effie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Preston Scherer of Edna; sister, Rosalie Carroll of Inez; brother, Walter Carroll of Dallas; nieces, Kathy Carroll and Betty Carroll; nephews, Allan Carroll and Melton Carroll. 
    She is preceded in death by her parents; nephew, James Zbikowski; and one niece who died at birth.
    Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m., in the Farrer Cemetery with Rev. Gabriel Bentil officiating.
    Pallbearers are Jason Jennings, James Jennings, Nathaniel Deleon, Mario Mojica, Travis Schmidt and C.J. Wright.         Honorary pallbearers are Milton Carroll, Jarred Jennings, Jenna Jennings and Billy Ray Gaskin.
    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
