Republican candidates take local races

Cyndi Poulton and Curt Gabrysch took the win in the Nov. 4 election. Poulton, who was appointed Pct. 2 JP by the commissioners court after Dwayne Taylor resigned earlier this year, handily won the race with 1,217 votes. Her challenger, Joe Girndt, received 274 votes. Gabrysch, who has been a deputy with the sheriff's office for more than 20 years, also won his race by a large margin over challenger Joel Hunt with 1,383 votes to Hunt's 38 votes.
