Edna Cowgirls play solidly

    The Edna Cowgirls played Rice Consolidated on Oct. 17 and won in three games, 25-19, 25-15, and 26-24.
    Megan Callaway had 12 kills, seven blocks, two digs and two assists, while Ashley Myers added 10 kills, five blocks and two digs. Sierra Pruitt had seven kills, two aces and eight digs, while Haleigh Evans had five kills, two aces, four blocks, eight digs and 28 assists. Kadi Elledge had two kills, eight blocks, two digs, and an ace, plus Crystal Coulter’s kill, five blocks and two digs. Haley Mitchell had two aces and 10 digs, Kamryn Roman had an ace, 11 digs and two digs, plus Bailey Brown’s six digs and two assists..
    The Edna Cowgirls played Gonzales on Oct. 21 and won in three games, 25-16, 25-9 and 25-17.
    Evans had 28 assists, a block, 13 digs, 2 kills and two aces, while Myers had two blocks, two digs and nine kills. Callaway gave two assists, three blocks, two digs and nine kills, plus Coulter’s one assist, four blocks, one dig and five kills. Elledge worked out four blocks and two kills, while Roman gave 10 digs and two aces. Kim Ortolon added five digs and an ace, while Brown had an assist, seven digs and four aces. Mitchell added seven digs, two aces and Pruitt gave two blocks, six digs, seven kills and an ace.
    The ‘Girls also played the Industrial Cobras on Oct. 24 and won in three games, ​25-20, 25-21 and 25-13.
    Evans gave her team 30 assists, two blocks, 13 digs, six kills and an ace, while Myers added two blocks, three digs and 11 kills. Callaway gave two assists, five blocks, a dig and 16 kills, plus Coulter’s four blocks and a kill. Elledge added five blocks, a dig and a kill, while Roman gave an assist, 13 digs and an ace. Pruitt had two blocks and seven kills, while Ortolon added six digs and an ace. Mitchell gave 14 digs and an ace, while Brown had eight digs and a kill.
    Roman said she believes the team to do great in the playoffs. “Coach Collins has prepared us very well and we have been woring super hard and are staying focused,” she said. “Some games it’s harder than others, but we play our best when we play together.”
    The Cowgirls will have played Rice in their last district game there on Tuesday, Oct. 28, and will begin bi-district play on Monday, Nov. 3.
